México's head coach José Manuel de la Torre made his selection, but Carlos Vela chose not to play.
"It's a close subject ... it's not worth talking about it, because nothing comes of it," said De La Torre last Monday.
"I don't have a problem with it."
Vela refused the De La Torre's invition to play the CONCACAF World Cup qualifier against visiting Jamaica at Azteca Stadium in México on Feb. 6, the preparation match for El Tri.
Vela cites personal reasons for the refusal.
In preparation for Jamaica, México will play a friendly against Denmark in Arizona on Sunday.
According to CONCACAF, Mexican defenders with the most experience include Carlos Salcido (Tigres) and Águilas de América's Francisco Javier Rodríguez.
Also on Feb. 6, the U.S. national team will travel to play Honduras.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The San Francisco 49ers hope to make it a double victory for the City by the Bay, when the 49ers face the Baltimore Ravens for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans.
The San Francisco Giants tapped Major League Baseball victory in the World Series, thus leading to parade through the streets of San Francisco.
Head coaches and brothers, Jim Harbaugh of the 49ers, and John Harbaugh of the Ravens, will be facing off against each other.
Kickoff is Sunday at 3:30 p.m.

Messi, age 25, finished with 50 goals last year.
"We went out there and took care of business like always," Messi said of the victory over Osasuna.
He leads La Liga Spanish League with 33 goals in 21 matches.
Xavi signs contract extension
BARCELONA -- Spanish midfielder Xavi has signed his two-year contact extension with Catalán.
The Spainiard inked his committment at the Nou Camp last Monday, tying him to the club through 2016.
Xavi, age 33, started with Barca's youth team. In his time with Barca, victories include 6 La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, two FIFA Club World Cups and 2 Copa del Rey crowns.
Paul Islas invited to Chivas USA tryout
FRESNO -- Fresno Fuego's Paul Islas was picked up as the 19th pick of the MLS Supplemental Draft by Chivas USA.
Islas, who had 22 goals and 12 assists while at Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds, was a National Soccer Coaches Athletic Association, D-2 All-American.
He finished at FPU third all-time goals with 55.
"This is my shot and I can't let anything get in my way," Islas said through FPU's website.
"I'm hoping that he shows well enough to earn a contract and have them groom him for the pros," said FPU head coach Jaime Ramírez.
"He has qualifites that a lot of MLS players don't have."
