El Concilio gala scheduled for October

El Concilio in Stanislaus County is gearing up for its annual gala dinner.

During a pleasant and fun-filled evening -- October 14 to be exact -- the organization will pay homage to leaders who have made an impact in the community with their service.

This year, the recognition goes to the American GI Forum with La Raza Award.

The American GI Forum (AGIF) Modesto Chapter: Is an inclusive Congressionally Chartered non-profit veteran-based Latino family organization dedicated to advancing the recognition of our meritorious returning soldiers, advocating for meaningful laws and policies to improve their benefits, and operating outreach programs to locate them and their families to provide for their needed services in health, education, small business. The Modesto Chapter has and continues to have different programs and projects to achieve those goals.

Other award recipients include: attorney María Jaime with Amiga of the Year; Judge Ricardo Córdova with Amigo of the Year; and, Judge Loretta Begen with Unsung Hero.

The gala will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Del Río Country Club, 801 Stewart Road in Modesto. Cost is $75 per person.
