Did Miami Heat star Glen Rice and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have a fling back in the 1980s, when she was a budding sports reporter and he was a star at the University of Michigan?
The National Enquirer is reporting that Palin, a former high school basketball standout herself, hooked up with Rice in 1987 when he was in Anchorage, Alaska, for a basketball tournament.
At the time, Palin was unmarried, just out of college and working as a sports reporter at Anchorage TV station KTUU. Rice was a junior and a basketball star -– he went on to lead the University of Michigan to a 1989 NCAA championship.
The tabloid's sources on the decades-old fling are solid: they're apparently among the revelations in the about-to-be-released book by investigative reporter Joe McGinniss. He's the reporter who rented a house next door to the Palins in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, while researching and writing his book. McGinniss figures prominently in an episode of her recent reality television show, Sarah Palin's Alaska, where she complains about him as a neighbor, and says of his interest in her life: "it’s just none of his flippin' business."
McGinniss's book on the former vice presidential candidate, "The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin," is set to be released next Tuesday.
