Fresno State president search criticized about secrecy, diversity

The search to replace Fresno State President John Welty got off to a rocky start Feb. 11 when community members expressed concerns about the secrecy of the process and lack of diversity on a 13-member advisory panel during a community forum.

The California State University trustees had scheduled the forum to give the public a chance to spell out the qualities they desire in the next president.

But many speakers were upset that public input was limited to Monday's two-hour forum at the Satellite Student Union.

Speakers complained about the lack of diversity on the selection panel.
