Help for Latino business owners

If you're interested in starting your own business, there is no better time than now.

That was the message delivered by Carlos Mendoza, director of the Fresno office of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

"We are seeing many people interested in opening a business, and now is a good time because there are many opportunities," said Mendoza, who held a workshop at the Alianza de Empresarios Latinos business fair last Saturday at Manchester Center.

The event featured workshops in Spanish, along with entertainment by the Sosa Sisters and the Fresno High School Folkloric Dancers.

About 100 took part in the workshops, said John Hernández, executive dirctor of the Central California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
