The Fair is open for business

The exhibits and carnival rides are up and ready and the food stand area irradiates that sweet smell of fair treats. This could only mean on thing, the 2009 Stanislaus County Fair is open for business.

From July 31 to Aug. 9, the Fair brings new amenities this year:

The Park 'N' Ride program allows patrons to park their cars at California State University, Stanislaus or Pitman High School parking lots and take a free shuttle ride to the Fair main entrance. This will run for the 10-days of the fair from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. with departures every 15 minutes.

Rainforest Adventure, an 8,000 square foot lush rainforest exhibit will be filled with reptiles, birds and mammals.

Latino concert night will feature Pablo Montero and Noelia Sunday, Aug. 9 at 8:30 p.m. at the Budweiser Free Variety State. The concert is free with fair admission.

Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego will pay a special visit on Thurs., Aug. 6 on Kids' Free Night at the Charter stage.
