Extreme heat conditions will be here soon and Cal/OSHA, along with the State Compensation Insurance Fund, wants to avoid tragic deaths due to heat strokes. Both entities are visiting various cities to bring heat-illness prevention seminars in both English and Spanish.
Last Wednesday, about 33 individuals showed up for the Spanish heat seminar. Among the group were three contractors, five supervisors, and agriculture and construction workers.
"The most important thing we want to prevent today is a heat-related illness or death," presenter Richard Ascaso told the crowd in Spanish.
Among the topics discussed were training, the importance of water and shade, and how to implement a plan of action for their place of work.
