Toluca deserves title

In a championship not for the weak of heart, Toluca defeated Santos in a penalty kick shootout to become the Bicentenario 2010 champions of the Mexican league.

And like their own fans defined it, the devil stuck his tail in it for the 10th time. Because although everything seemed lost and because the conditions in the final appeared to give Santos the title, Toluca turned things around and yelled, "Champions!"

It's true, perhaps a bit of luck was in its favor, but Toluca had nothing to do with Santos' wayward shot at the end of 12 passes that had a very high price.

Toluca, in this way, captured its 10th championship and tied América for second place on the all-time championship title list, both behind Guadalajara's 11 titles.

Santos coach Rubén Omar Romano left the field dejected because he came close to capturing his first Mexican league title in three tries.
