The Modesto area was well represented at the 2018 Danzantes Unidos Festival held March 23-25 at the Clovis East High School complex, with showcase concerts at the Warnors Theatre.
The festival – which drew more than 1,500 participants from as far away as Chicago and New Orleans – featured dance workshops, a folklórico marketplace, and dance performances on Saturday and Sunday separate from the evening dance concerts.
All the local groups performed on Sunday, the final evening of the festival.
Ballet Folklórico Tradiciones from Modesto performed dances from Tamaulipas. The group is directed by Christina Canela Martínez.
Ballet Folklórico El Mestizaje de Salida performed dances from Nayarit Costa. The dancers are directed by Kassandra Casillas-Luquín.
Ballet Folklórico Anahuac from Modesto performed chilenas guerrerenses. The group is directed by Liduvina González.
Grupo Folklórico Revolución from Modesto performed dances from Veracruz. The goup is directed by Teresa Montoya.
