Although he finished 12 strokes behind AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am winner Phil Mickelson last weekend, 32-year-old Argentine golfer Miguel Ángel Carballo served notice that he should be a PGA rookie to watch for this season.
Carballo -- who stumbled into golf as a caddie by following his brother one day -- put together rounds of 69, 71, 69 and 72 to finish 5-under par. He also pocketed a paycheck for $40,693.
Carballo, known as 'El Tati' by friends, earned a spot on the PGA Tour by placing 10th in the 2011 Nationwide money list. He has three tournament wins: European Tour, Nationwide Tour, and, Tour de las Américas.
