STOCKTON -- The San Joaquín County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 36th Annual Installation of Officers and Awards Dinner on July 11.
The event will be held at the Sheraton Stockton Hotel at Regent Pointe. No-host cocktails will kick off the event at 6 p.m., dinner and the awards program will follow. The new board of directors and executive committee.
Those to be honored include: Linda Derivi, Derivi Construction & Architecture for Business Woman of the Year; Frank Montelongo, San Francisco Auto Body for Business Man of the Year; Univisión Television Group, Corporation of the Year; Luis Sánchez, Washington Mutual for Executive of the Year; Henry Peralta, Stockton Auto Glass for Volunteer of the Year; Spencer Poore, East Bay Municipal District for Business Advocate of the Year; and United Way of San Joaquín County for Community Based Organization of the Year.

STANISLAUS COUNTY
The fair needs you
TURLOCK -- The Stanislaus County Fair is looking for volunteers who have affection for alligators, or a soft spot for the Stegosaurus. Those interested will assist at the new Jurassic Journey interactive educational exhibit and the Brad's World Reptiles exhibit during this year's fair, July 25 through Aug. 3.
Volunteers will be trained and must be age 16 or over, must have their own transportation and must be able to stand for several hours at a time.
Jurassic Journey volunteer training is slated for 7 p.m. July 23 and Brad's World Reptile volunteer training is slated for 7 p.m. July 24.

Fireworks show
TURLOCK -- The 24th Annual Fantastic Fourth traditional fireworks and concert is scheduled for Friday (July 4) at the CSU Stanislaus campus. There will be a Kids' Fair featuring four bounce houses and a food booth running from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Arts Quad area next to the amphitheater prior to the start of the fireworks show at dusk.
Seating in the University Amphitheatre is first-come, first-serve. Admission and parking on the campus are free.
Volunteers for the Gallo Center for the Arts
MODESTO -- The Gallo Center for the Arts is looking for volunteers for its 2008-2009 season.
There will be two trainings at noon July 12 and 19 at the center, 1000 I St.
These trainings will consist of all the information you will need to become an ambassador at the Gallo Center for the Arts.

Citizenship and civics class
RIVERBANK -- LANZAS will be presenting a citizenship and civic class from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 8 at St. Frances of Rome Church, 2827 Topeka St. The class is free and open to those who want to prepare themselves for the U.S. citizenship test.

Safe babysitter classes
MODESTO -- DMC Foundation is offering a fun-filled babysitting safety class designed to train youth who may be taking care of younger children. Students will learn how to recognize and handle emergencies, basic first aid and CPR, personal safety, water safety and fire safety. Also covered will be basic infant care, appropriate activities for different age groups, behavior management and the importance of responsibility.
The class will be held at the DMC Foundation classroom annex, 700 McHenry Ave. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fri., July 11.
Cost: $40 per student and pre-registration is required. Participants must be at least 11 years old.
