Our wish for Christmas

When we think of great years, 2011 may not pop up as a memorable one due mainly to a limping economy that has failed to generate enough jobs for everyone, kept foreclosure rates too high, and, forced government and private employers to trim its workforces.

That is why our only Christmas wish is for an economy that returns to full strength, so that:

People willing to work can find jobs that pay the bills.

Workers can use their skills to benefit others.

Families can stay in their homes.

Streets and other infrastructure can be efficiently maintained.

Jails and prisons won't have to release criminals for lack of staffing.

Students at California's institutions of higher learning can focus on their studies and not their bank accounts.

Government can restore vital services, like health care, to the needy.

End the political silly talk of "class warfare" once and for all.

This country can stop scapegoating undocumented immigrants for the economic downturn.

Folks close to retirement can focus on their goals and not on their shrinking 401Ks.

So, our only Christmas wish for 2011 is that the economy gets healthier.
