Argentina ends Méxicos dreams in 3-1 win
JOHANNESBURG The Mexican national teams World Cup dreams ended in the round of 16 after losing 3-1 against Argentina, which remains one of this years favorites.
Argentine star forward Leonel Messi was carefully marked, allowing Carlos Tevez to become the player of the night by scoring in the 26th and 52nd minutes of play. Gonzalo Higuián added a third goal (min. 33). Méxicos Javier Hernández scored in the 71st minute.
The game was played in front of a crowd of 84,377 at Soccer City Stadium, where Argentina will next face Germany in a quarterfinal match.
México coach Javier Aguirre surprised many with his starting lineup, giving Adolfo Bautista, Javier Hernández and Andrés Guardado the start, while sitting out Guillermo Franco and defender Héctor Moreno.

We raised the match to the level of the conditions. México was superior in the first few minutes, had a pair of scoring chances, but gave up a goal. The team tried to recompose itself and gave up the second goal. Two errors dramatically changed the course of the game. The importnat thing is the dignity with which the team played with, the desire to strike back, the intention of getting back into the game, and we came close to getting to 3-2. There is nothing else to say, we must keep working.
