RUSTENBURG Ghana and Australia tied 1-1 in a Group D match today at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Australia, coming off a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Germany in its World Cup opening match, opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Brett Holman scored, but Ghanas Asamoah Gyan tied the match in the 25th minute on a penalty kick.
Ghana, which had a one-man advantage when Australias Harry Kewell was red-carded for a handball, took over first in Group D with four points. Australia picked up its first point with the tie.

We went ahead and it was going well. Once we went down to ten men we had to work very hard, and I think thats what they did. Im proud of the players playing with a man less for that long is not easy.
